Remembrance Sunday in North Marston – 12 November 2023
We will mark Remembrance Sunday in North Marston on Sunday 12 November 2023.
A short service will be held in St Mary’s Church at 9.30am, immediately followed by the assembly of Village Youth and Adult Organisations outside the Church in preparation for a procession to the Village Hall, led by the North Marston British
Legion Standard. Everyone is very welcome to join this procession, whether
or not you represent an organisation. Please be in place for this event by
10.15 am.
A Service of Remembrance will be held outside the Village Hall, which will
include reading out the names of the Fallen from North Marston, a 2 minute
silence and the laying of wreaths.
Please dress according to the weather forecast. Medals are always an interesting topic of conversation, and you are encouraged to wear those you have for this special occasion. If you don’t have medals yourself but would like to wear the medals of someone dear to you, please do so; it is usual to wear such medals on your right side.
We always like to involve as many people as possible from the village in the Remembrance activities and it has been suggested that there may be budding choristers out there who love to sing but don’t want a regular commitment to a singing group. Maybe you would appreciate a one-off opportunity to help lead the singing of traditional hymns during the Remembrance Service. There would be an opportunity to rehearse the music beforehand. If you may be interested in this idea, please contact Pete York, Jennifer Heffer or Rev. Petra Elsmore.
After the Service, St Mary’s Church will provide refreshments in the Village Hall.
