Planned power interruption

There is a planned power interruption for 63 houses in Portway, Morton Close and Schorne Lane on Monday 10th August 2009 between approximately 9am and 2pm.

The suppliers give this advice:

• If you use electrically powered medical equipment, you should contact your medical advisor or GP for advice
• Turn fridges and freezers to their coldest setting twelve hours before the cut, and only open them when necessary
• Prepare hot drinks in a vacuum flask
• Switch off sensitive electrical applicances such as computers
• Wireless phones don't work when the power is cut, so make sure you have a plug-in phone or mobile available
• Leave one light on so you can see when the power is restored

And most importantly, offer help to your neighbours if they need it.

When the power returns, make sure to reset all clocks and timers.
