London to Cambridge cycle ride
The guys succeeded in doing the Three Peaks Challenge last year so we girls had no choice but to have a go at something equally challenging.
A team of North Marstonites – Sue Mordue, Jo and James (honorary girl) Radcliffe, Tricia McSweeney, Carrie Smythe and Karen Parks – rode a 57-mile cycle ride from London to Cambridge on the 25th July, raising money for two worthy causes, namely the Sportsfield Clubhouse building and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

A report from Sue
Well I am pleased to say we did it!!!!
The weather was ideal and we managed to complete the 60 miles in 6 hours 10 minutes which included 4 stops for yummy flap jacks and sausage rolls and yes I did get to eat a whole Mars bar without the guilt!!!
The atmosphere was great and it was superbly organised, and I am proud to have completed it on my bike having ridden up every hill ... some people got off and walked which would have been a better option in my mind but the girls spurred me on! I had naively though it would be flat once we had got out of London as we were heading for Cambridge however how wrong could I have been!!
We of course went through Essex and it was only that last few miles in Cambridgeshire which were flat!! We did however get the opportunity of riding up and down and up (!) the country roads and seeing some wonderful villages and old houses which I would never otherwise have seen.
Overall a great day out and had great fun completing the girls team challenge! Over to the boys for next year ... although at the finish Karen had us signed up for Lands End to John O'Groats!!!
Please can I ask for you to drop your money in (labelled so I know who not to chase), or when I next see you. Thank you all again for your wonderful support for these great causes.
Sue
