Sportsfield Volunteer Day

The Sportsfield volunteers

On Saturday 27th March, Trevor organised a volunteer party to try to get the remedial work to the surface above the lines of the drains. These have all sunk and make the field very bumpy.

About 20 odd adults and kids came down to shovel, barrow and then rake nearly 20 tonnes of soil and sand mix. We just about completed the entire field before the rain came.

Once the soil dries out on the field – hopefully between now and the end of the Easter weekend – there will be the task of raking it out finely, to fill in the hollows. It was too wet on Saturday to achieve this effectively, so if anyone would like to help out for an hour in the evenings please email Trevor and he will let you know when he is going down there with rakes etc.

As always the community spirit shown to turn out and donate their time for free was fantastic and saved loads of cash. The field should be in good shape come the start of the cricket season and then onto the new football season!
