MADS
Marston Amateur Dramatics (MADS) are villagers whose aim is simply to put on a production, whether it is panto or a farce, for the enjoyment of those in the village. If we get it right we hope you will laugh with us... and not at us!
MADS has been putting on productions in the village hall since 1977. Typically we put on one performance a year, selecting a play or panto in the October of each year to put on in the February half-term. However, we do contribute to other events or activities in the village that may require some acting, reading or other extrovert behaviour.
Ticket money and money raised through the interval raffles is used primarily to cover expenses putting on a production. This can include a copyright license as well as costumes and staging. We have however made donations throughout the years, to support village activities or sponsor people in the village who are raising funds funds for charities.
In 2008 MADS helped fund the visit of the Llandovery choir to St Mary's church, and four people in the village doing charity walks. This totalled £400. In all over the years, we have contributed in excess of £3000.
