Refuse and recycling collection

Landfill refuse and some recycleable materials are collected on behalf of Aylesbury Vale District Council from your collection point – normally at the front boundary of your property – at any time after 6.30am, so you may want to put out the materials the previous evening.

The collections are normally on Wednesdays, but are delayed to Thursday in any week in which the Monday is a Bank Holiday.

Green wheelie refuse binLandfill refuse in green wheelie bins is collected every week. You can dispose of most non-recycleable materials, but not hot ashes, rubble, heavy items, solvents, chemicals, clinical waste or hypodermic needles.

The bins and recycling containers are provided free of charge by the Council to all residents. Phone 01296 585510 or send an email.

recycling basketsRecycling baskets with plastic, cans and paper are collected every fortnight. Use one basket for washed and squashed plastic, tins and cans, but not aluminimum foil, plastic bags, plant pots, polystyrene, toys, or oil or paint containers. Use the other basket for most waste paper, but not card, brown paper, brown envelopes or wrapping paper.

Don't overfill the baskets: you can order extra baskets at no cost from 01296 585510 or by email.

glass recycling boxesGlass for recycling is collected every four weeks in a green lidded box. Washed green, brown, clear and blue glass bottle and jars are all fine, but not milk bottles, oven-proof glass, window glass, ceramics or light bulbs. And don't put in broken glass.

There are also glass recycling bins in the Village Hall car park.
