North Marston and Granborough are fortunate to share a thriving Scouts, Cubs and Beavers group. The sessions are open to boys and girls and we meet weekly throughout term time. Most sessions are held at the sports field, making use of the warm function room in the winter months. However, the wide range of activities include climbing, swimming, hiking, farm trips and much more.
Annual highlights include our Summer Camp for the Scouts, as well as a District Camp that is open to Cubs and Beavers. We have frequent events and Barbeques (including our AGM and our 'Wear a Hat BBQ' where we have raised thousands of pounds for Brain Tumour Research). The group also supports other local events and fetes, often installing and running a challenging Assault Course. This includes the Bucks County Show and the Dog Show in North Marston among others.
Another annual highlight is the Christmas Tree Collection, where the group collects hundreds of Christmas Trees from surrounding villages to be recycled. This is a great fundraising activity, but also provides a responsible solution to Christmas Tree disposal.
Of course, we are nothing without our team of passionate volunteers - and we are always looking for more helpers. This can be occasional support with sessions - and we would also love to have a few more people willing to commit to becoming Leaders.
On most term time weeks, we meet at North Marston sports field at the following times. Please feel free to pop by and see if Scouting is for you. If we are not there, we are probably on an external event - but please do come and visit the next week instead:
We also have a small Explorer Scouts group, which is for 14-18 year olds. This follows a slightly less structured format but we would be delighted to hear from anybody who is interested.
