The Parish Council is responsible for maintaining green spaces in the village, which includes the cutting and strimming of grass verges and central grassed areas, the village pond, village hall garden, and the play area. A rota of volunteers mow the Sportsfield. Hedges are cut on an annual basis, except the Village Hall and play area hedges which are cut twice a year.
We contract with a third party, Blades, to provide this service on behalf of the village and receive a financial contribution of just under £2k from Buckinghamshire Council towards the total costs of approximately £9k in 2024-25.
Generally speaking, all green spaces are cut so that the grass is always at an attractive length, suitable for walking and playing. Please note that as amenity areas are heavily used, they are not cut as short as we tend to cut our garden lawns. This keeps them as green and vibrant as possible.
Sometimes, we allow the grass to grow longer to provide space for wildlife and to encourage wildflowers and pollination. The Parish Council is also responsible for the three wildflower verges at the Oving, Granborough and Quainton Road ends of the village.

If you think that an area has been missed, or the grass has been allowed to grow too long, please use the contact form to let the Parish Clerk know.
